HOUSE OF SPORTS AT KAMPA

This thesis, written by Ondřej Pecháček at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University, represents a comprehensive output of his professional studies within the field of architecture. It deals with the land, which is a part of the historical Sokol complex Michna Palace and Tyrš House in Mala Strana. Among the objectives are finding and implementing the most suitable solution for this space. In the introductory parts, I deal with the history of the chosen area and the site together with an overall analysis of the current situation. I focus not only on the specific site but also its context within the city. Subsequently, I create a proposal for a covered public space unique to the city centre. I develop the theme of sports and public spaces, the organization of the Sokol community and its position in today's society, and the relationship of today's society to public space. The conclusion of my work is the development of the idea that public space with the possibility of remodeling in the future is more than a metaphorically enclosed house.
