Ratina Wave

Annotation

The site is not very visible from Ratina area, where is high density of people. We wanted the library to be seen across the highway and attract people. The wave form suggests possible movement in direction to lake Pyhäjärvi. To support the idea of new connection we assume construction of a new bridge above inner highway linking Ratina with Pyhäjärvi. The main entrance to the library is suggested at the corner. Roof of the building works all year round as a place for hanging out. COAUTHOR: Bertille Vinot

my key experience from erasmus

My stay in Finland gave me an incredible amount of experience. It was fascinating to be in school, where a welcoming environment and well-being are top priorities. I have often been surprised at how informal teaching can be. I was met with a friendly, international teaching staff and a pro-student mindset. At the end of my semester, there were no exams but an evaluation of my contribution and engagement in classes. Credits were not just a ridiculously low number in KOS, they meant time required from a student also outside of school. Erasmus was an invaluable experience for me, which showed me that studies of architecture can work better and gave me a different perspective on our faculty.
