Community Workshop - 6 Union Quay

Annotation

The aim was to find a new function for a historic building in Cork that had previously been used as a butter warehouse. It is currently used as an office and the condition of the building itself is not good. I created a space for a workshop where people can repair furniture, clothes or electronics. The architecture refers to traditional architecture as well as other buildings associated with the butter history. Red bricks are as common to Cork as white limestone brickwork. The aim was to preserve what can be preserved and replace with new construction what is no longer worth restoring.
