Erasmus Exhibition

Annotation

Loenhout is a traditional village in Belgium with a disturbed urban structure, public spaces for cars and unused land in the core. There are several buildings that are essential for the inhabitants but in disrepair, such as the original school, the parochie centre and the music hall, which need to be adapted to new functions. Thus three public spaces with three different characters are created. A small square with a community centre, a courtyard surrounded by housing for the elderly and a park shaped by family houses. The different spaces are connected by passages always highlighted by a landmark for easy orientation.

my key experience from erasmus

Antwerp is a great city to live, study, bike everywhere on an endless plain and the architecture is definitely inspiring. In the studio we did a lot of analysis of the history, the context, looking for the right proportions and also reference projects. The design was all about public spaces, simplicity and sustainability.
