Fill in the Gap
Annotation
This project introduces an apartment building that fills the gap left in this Prague block. The building features one single-bed apartment per floor, with exterior porch space on the west and east facades. The primary feature of the building is a garden zone on the front facade allowing both the residents and the public to enjoy a rare sight of planted greenery in an urban setting. While being a pleasant visual feature, it also adds practicality by buffering street noise from the interior space of each apartment. This is succeeded by an undulating pattern of glazing in front of the garden space. Finally, this garden feature allows light and urban views into the living spaces of the interior, while preserving a measure of privacy for those inside.
