Pax et Bonum
Annotation
By changing the archetype of hermitage separated from the world by its distance, the city of Horovice gets a place for contemplation of Franciscan friars isolated by its closedness. The hermitage, which is literally hiding itself, shapes the expression of the farthest part of the cemetery. The building lets only couple of its skylights and entrances to be seen from the outside. Besides increasing the spirituality of the place, the inhabiting friars will upkeep the cemetery. The roof of the buried hermitage is covered by a layer of soil and serves as the cemetery with urn graves. Its composed enviroment divided by grown up thujas creates various rooms for deceased and offers a more intimate visit for the bereaved.
