KOLÍN - REVITALISATION OF JIRÁSKOVA SQUARE + MUNICIPAL LIBRARY

Although it may not seem that way today, looking at the abundance of unmaintained parking spaces, Jirásek Square was in the past an important local center of the Kolín Zálabí area. It was a place where markets were held and where people went to church on Sundays. It was a place where people naturally met. The city of Kolín recently announced an architectural competition for the revitalization of Jirásek Square and, in connection with that, for the design of a new city library. Our work combines these two competition tasks and offers another view of the possible form of Jirásek Square with a new city library. With our design, we try to create a compact environment with a clearly defined square space, which is sorely lacking in Zálabí area today.
