KING´S MILL : NEW SHELTER FOR TOURISTS

Bc. Zdeněk Hampl

Annotation

Königsmühle (King's Mill) is an extinct settlement located in the Ore Mountains. Its ruins were discovered by a local and since then it has served not only as a destination for many tourists, but also as a venue for an annual land-art festival. There is a small shelter in one room where tourists can spend the night. The aim of the project was to make a new roof inside the main building, thus covering the whole first floor of this building and creating an additional space for tourists to stay overnight. This new roof is flat, so visitors can climb the new stairs and use this roof as a new vantage point for the surrounding area. The project therefore includes the rehabilitation of this ruin to prevent its further degradation.
