KOLÍN- REVITALIZATION OF THE REPUBLIC SQUARE

The project deals with the revitalization of the Republic Square in Kolín and the improvement of the quality of public spaces in its surroundings. The urban concept of the revitalization is also the basis for the design of new residential buildings of the ATBS assignment. At the heart of the proposal are three newly defined public spaces offering a variety of uses. Republic Square is characterised by trees planted in a regular grid, which complement the square's flourishing London planes. The second square stands out for its intimate character, which encourages neighbourhood gatherings. The third square with a bosque is thematically complemented by an acoustic play element, given the proximity of the children's and youth institutions.
