MONASTERY ON PILGRIMAGE ROUTE

Bc. Štěpán Hronek

Annotation

The study of a Benedictine monastery with accommodation for pilgrims and a brewery restores the idea of the original monastery courtyard that once stood in Vilémov u Golčova Jeníkova, through which the Via Czechia Centrální pilgrimage route passes today. The construction programme is embedded in two buildings, the masses of which complete the courtyard in the south-western corner. The monastery building with accommodation for pilgrims consists of two intersecting volumes - the southern one houses the monks' cells and the monastery facilities, the western one the accommodation for pilgrims. At the intersection of the two volumes are the main spaces: the chapel, the convent, the refectory and the library. The supporting structure is made of CLT wooden panels.
