ROZTOCKY ROCK
Annotation
The Berounka River is the beating artery of Křivoklátsko. It is the last large unregulated river in Czechia. Thanks to this, it has preserved its natural character, which was one of the reasons for the creation of the Křivoklátsko Landscape Area. But it also brings with it floods, which are well known in this valley. The building is therefore designed as a rock that can withstand surges of water. The main floor is situated above the level of 100 year flood. The community house can be used not only by Roztoky but also by other neighbouring towns. Two common rooms overlooking the river can be connected into one space. Both open onto the terraces, which descend in steps towards Berounka as if created by river erosion.
