Horse-drawn Railway Píně

Martin Tokár

Annotation

The history of Křivoklátsko is closely connected with the Fürstenberg family, who built the second oldest horse railway in Europe here. I decided to restore part of this railway and to create facilities for its operation on the site of a former station. It leads from Lány through Píně station to the Pilský Pond. The Píně station used to be a processing and transport hub for timber, and it still belongs to the Lány Forestry Administration. I want to strengthen this strong link to the forestry and wood-processing professions by proposing a sustainable model of forest management in the protected area, primarily using draft horses. These along with railway horses will be kept in a new wooden stable. The site also features a railway museum in the station's historic building and staff housing.
