BRIDGE OVER THE BEROUNKA RIVER

Annotation

The design of the pedestrian footbridge over the Berounka River in Roztoky near Křivoklát addresses the long-standing lack of a dignified pedestrian connection in the municipality. The footbridge is designed at the site of the former Franz Joseph I Bridge, linking both riverbanks. Inspired by the organic shapes of plants, it harmoniously blends into the surrounding natural environment. The structure, made of prestressed reinforced concrete on reinforced concrete pillars, is complemented by wooden elements from local forests and steel cables, ensuring strength and aesthetic appeal. A platform with seating and information panels about nature and cultural heritage not only educates visitors but also exceeds the mere function of a crossing, enriching the local landscape.
