The Spirit of Melusine

Once upon a time, Melusine came alive! The project “The Spirit of Melusine” brings together two cultural traditions that share a common theme of mysticism, nature, and elemental forces. The French legend of Melusine from the 14th century tells the story of a magical creature associated with water, mystery, and transformation, while Czech folklore’s "melusina" represents another face of mystery—the sound of the wind howling and rustling, reminiscent of the wailing or whispering of an invisible spirit. At the Chaumont-sur-Loire Garden Festival 2025, Melusine will come alive through the interplay of water, sound, nature and the invisible secrets that continue to dwell among us, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in a world where European legends and natural forces intertwine.
