ZÁKUPY - revitalization of the SQUARE

Bc. Veronika Maříková

Annotation

Zákupy, a small town in the north of Bohemia, is proud of historical monuments such as the castle, the church of St. Fabián and Šebestián or the plague column. However, after the removal of the German population and inappropriate modifications, the square lost its historical character and is mainly used as a parking lot. The revitalization proposal focuses on restoring its representative and public function. Traffic is diverted, parking is limited and the space is modified with height levels, transitions, greenery and furniture. The main motif is the star arrangement around the plague column, complete with a new drinking fountain and drainage. The renovation of the facades and the removal of visual smog complete the harmonious appearance of the square.
