n recent years, the topic of housing has been receiving renewed attention, and rightly so. Despite this attention, we perceive our homes as commodities. In the 20th century, a period of one of the largest housing booms in history, it was common for architects to design apartment buildings for the state, which allowed them to build large-scale housing complexes, while allowing them to experiment with unprecedented ideas in terms of typology and technology. Today, affordable or alternative housing is reduced to a needle in a haystack of commodified urbanization.
