Diploma Seminar - University of Tomas Bata Expansion

Industrial activity as the center of a city is an outdated concept. I believe that the Svit complex in Zlín has a unique opportunity for regeneration, having the massive advantage of its buildings being incredibly reusable due to their functionalist open floorplan constructions, rather than needing to be demolished. We have seen successful reuse of a few of the buildings already, and the same should be done for the rest. They present an opportunity to expand the cities residential capacities, cultural and educational institutions as well as commercial and leisure activity. For my diploma project, I have decided to explore the possibility of adaptive reuse of several of the buildings towards educational use.
