TOWN SQUARE CORNER HOUSE

Apartment buildings should fulfill not only our basic needs, but also our sociological need to have a comunity and a place that we belong to. Such place should be of dignity and friendliness. My project is situated on a corner gap site in the town square of Zákupy. Corner houes on a square has an inherent tendency to be a place of interest and encourages busy social life. That's why I focused the most on the delicacy of the shape and dimensions of the house and it's façades, to fulfill it's spatial potential in the context of surrounding built environment. The results of my efforts are e.g. the loggia that covers and blurs the threshold between the inner square and the neighbouring street, or the café on the ground floor open for private meet-ups, public performances or workshops.
