The Kočka sawmill

Jan Grasser

Annotation

I have placed the modern premises of a semi-automated forestry plant, Kočka Sawmill, in Křivoklátsko, as a location of forests and groves, with a great potential and tradition of timber harvesting and wood processing industry. In the immediate vicinity there is the water-powered Kočka mill, which also houses a hydroelectric power plant. I decided to use this in the design to power my sawmill. The plot was relatively flat from the beginning, its additional leveling is done with gravel and sand obtained during the cleaning of the Berounka River, flowing right next to the site. The sawmill itself is then divided into three main parts. The sawmill hall, a warehouse with a production line for by-products such as mulch bark or briquettes, and a shop.
