OLŠANSKÁ HOUSING
Annotation
The boulevard created to serve the freight railway station lies on the edge of an urban area marked by redevelopment. We are in Žižkov, between the police station and the church, between the largest cemetery in Prague and a four-lane road.
Everything converges toward the central church among the chestnut trees—the buildings and the plot alike. To the west, the building's sections step back, letting in sunlight and offering views of the Žižkov Tower.
I pass through the gate, toss my bike in the garden, and run home for lunch. The shared gardens of the houses lie along their southern side. Near the Church of St. Roch are workshops, a café, and even a flower shop—a place to stop before entering the cemetery.
