CONVERSION OF THE KARLIN BARRACKS

As part of the revitalization of the Karlín Barracks, I design a multifunctional space with a focus on educational and residential functions. The ground floor of the building is designed for commercial use, while the upper floors accommodate UMPRUM, FAMU, and DAMU, with student apartments located in the top levels. The concept preserves the historical essence of the building while integrating modern elements, such as red staircases at the entrances to FAMU and DAMU, which enliven the space and serve as visual landmarks. The new entrances, inspired by the recently renovated arches of the nearby Negrelli Viaduct, seamlessly connect the building's interior with its surroundings.
