MONASTERY OF VILÉMOV

I have designed a monastery in Vilémov for Benedictine monks. The design responds to the tradition of the monastery founded in 1119 and revives its historical significance. The two-story building strictly separates the monks' life from the publicly accessible church area. The heart of the building is the chapel, located in the center of the layout, surrounded by an inner courtyard. The monastery appears closed from the outside, but it opens toward the monastery garden, offering the monks a peaceful environment for contemplation. The monastery is connected to an economic building managed by the monks, reflecting the Benedictine order's emphasis on prayer, work, and communal life.
