Monastery Vilemov

Uliana Trishchuk

Annotation

The design of the monastery complex in Vilémov, located on the Via Czechia pilgrimage route, combines spirituality, nature and simple architecture. The main unifying element of the complex is the pond, around which the key parts of the complex are arranged. The chapel, as a spiritual landmark, stands alone on the bank of the pond and is made of wood. The monastery itself, designed in rammed earth, expresses modesty and harmony with nature. The brewery and the accommodation for pilgrims form an imaginary gateway to the originally Baroque courtyard, which forms the central space of the complex. The design emphasises simplicity, sustainability and the promotion of spiritual renewal along the pilgrimage route.
