CONCEPTUAL PROJECTS: STUDY COMPLEX / ART CENTER
Annotation
In designing the first task, I was inspired by the relationship between modernism and postmodernism. In my project, I wanted to emphasize their differences and similarities by dominant shapes and functions.
The dominant form of modernism is the cube, postmodernism is a cylinder. In every part of the building, these shapes are connected, which points to their context.
I also tried to distinguish the role of the pillars. In modernism they have a supporting function, in postmodernism they are rather decorative.
In the second task, we had to look for a conceptual relationship between form and function.
Function: Art Center
Form: inspiration from Suprematism (Kazimir Malevich).
My composition consists of two main buildings and a glass passage that serves as a linear motion sequence.
