Gallery for Toyen
Annotation
I designed a gallery for the Czech-French painter Toyen. The building is situated on the Croatian island of Korčula, where the painter met Jindřich Štýrský. The gallery stands alone on a cliff by the sea, outside the city, reflecting the painter's introverted nature. The gallery is designed according to the structural plan. I worked with two intertwining masses, namely with the external corridor that frames the internal richly articulated gallery space. On the ground floor of the gallery there is a cafe with access to the terrace, where visitors can enjoy their coffee while looking at the sea. In addition to the gallery space, the second floor also includes a terrace, which is perfect for enjoying nature.
