Jean Michel Basquiat Gallery
Annotation
The gallery is dedicated to Jean-Michel Basquiat, american artist of Haitian origin and the most prominent artist of neoexpresionism of 20th century. The gallery is situated in the gap between two houses in Brooklyn. Due to the location of the gallery, i chose the compact cuboid form, which fits into the Brooklyn housing development and also contrasts with Basquiat´s dynamical paintings. However, the regular shape of the cuboid is disturbed by the irregularly spaced windows on the north facade, which bring light into the main exhibition spaces. Gallery has 4 above-ground floors and one ground floor, where the gallery facilities are located. On the 4th floor of the gallery is a café, which offers a possibility to relax and to enjoy the view of cityscape of New York through the glazed wall
