House for Pénelope
Annotation
The house represents the contrast of sadness - hope and the conflict between Penelope's need for her own space and her responsibilities.
The cliff on which the house is located offers shelter and a view at the same time. The house is hidden from any approaching danger, as the entrance is a subtle staircase leading between the terrain and the individual buildings. On the other hand, a large staircase opens to the sea for the returning Odysseus.
The division of the two blocks provides the possibility of dividing work and private matters, as well as a space in the rock above the grand staircase that can be used for hidden meetings.
The sense of hope is supported by skylights that illuminate the stairs and raised platforms.
