HOUSE FOR A JEWELLER
Annotation
Walking through Mikulov at the end of winter, I noticed how some houses are completely covered with grapevines. Embraced by time, they form a structure that stands and lives on its own. Other facades bear long, trailing scars, yet remain beautiful. For the outer shell, I choose cor-ten, a weather-resistant steel characterized by its rusty appearance. Thanks to this, it harmoniously integrates into the natural environment, making it an ideal material for architecture that aims to establish a dialogue with nature. The symbolism of grapevines is significant in the context of buildings located in wine-growing areas, where it refers to local traditions and culture. The structure climbs partially or entirely over the windows, providing shade. The shadow projects inside, creating dynamic effects.
