EXHIBITION PAVILION IN STROMOVKA

Annotation

The concept of this building is inspired by Japanese culture, as the gallery itself is dedicated to the Japanese artist Saraku Tōsūsai. The foundation of the design is a simple rectangular form, reminiscent of most traditional Japanese houses. Inside, there is a small garden called “tsubo-niwa,” which reflects the Eastern philosophy of connecting nature with architecture. The atrium also separates the main exhibition area from the transitional space and serves as the primary source of light for the gallery. A wall, rotated by 8 degrees, and a slanted roof are oriented toward a central point, giving the building a sense of dynamism.
