Exhibition pavilion in Stromovka

Karolina Tamarova

Annotation

The exhibition pavilion is dedicated to the Russian painter Mikhail Vrubel and his most famous works. One of the paintings on display in the lowest part of the pavilion depicts a fallen demon, with the viewer surrounded by concrete walls like a demon by mountains. The overall design of the building stems from the architectural concept of Raumplan. From each of the four sections you can see to different height levels. The ground floor serves as an entrance area with utility rooms, from which staircases lead to the lowered exhibition spaces. This division is also evident from the outside, where each section has a different height level.
