Vyšehrad - A change of perspective

Adam Škrobánek

Annotation

The project aimed to create a space that harmoniously combines historical, cultural, and natural elements while offering a modern interpretation of Czech musical heritage. The design emphasizes the connection between history and modernity, nature and music, creating a unique cultural venue in the heart of Prague. The building’s shape resembles a harp, referencing Smetana’s symphonic poem Vyšehrad, and symbolizes the flow of the Vltava River. A large window behind the stage creates the impression of sitting directly above the water. The building also includes a cylindrical relaxation area with a spiral ramp leading to the top of the fortifications. A direct ramp connects the concert hall to the fortifications, ensuring seamless access.
