CLIMATE FUTURE PAVILION 2124 | WITH THE WIND ABOUT THE RACE

Michal Procházka

Annotation

In the 21st century, the construction of large office buildings is a widespread trend. However, these glass colossuses must be artificially air-conditioned in the summer and expensively heated in the winter. What if we went back to the times when people were able to maintain a pleasant indoor climate inside buildings even without the help of modern technologies that we have today? My proposal focuses on three construction measures that have been key to cooling buildings in history. The first is natural ventilation, where colder air from the north enters the interior, heats up at the southern facade, and rises outside. The second is submerging it underground. In summer, the soil has a cooling effect on the flowing air, but in winter it warms it up. The last pillar of my proposal is shade.
