Stalactite Gallery

In our project, we focus on designing a gallery based on the theme of an infinite house. We interpreted this theme as a cave with an endless system of corridors and rooms interconnected in various ways. This creates spaces of different lengths and heights. Visitors are guided by light coming from skylights. Our gallery is situated on a parking lot at Senovážné Square in České Budějovice. By doing so, we transformed and created a new public space that can be used in multiple ways thanks to the tall and elongated skylights – for concerts, markets, and more. On the first underground floor, there is a café with a view into the second underground floor. The layout becomes more complex on the second underground floor, and the third underground floor changes in atmosphere, becoming dark and cool.
