MĚDĚNEC : DŮLNÍ AREÁL : Pivovar Mědník
Anotace
Měděnec has a rich history of mining, from the 17th century copper mines below the Mědník chapel to the 20th century iron mine complex situated north of the village. The iron mine was decommissioned in 1998 and subsequently largely demolished in 2022.
The larger area surrounding Měděnec (north-west Czechia) has a rich culture of beer production, specifically in Žatec, therefore this project combines the local mining history with the beer affinity for the region. Pivovar Mědník is a proposal for the reuse of the former 20th century iron mine, introducing a medium sized brewery, along with a mining museum and community center. The proposal also works with an existing proposal for a recycling center, which completes the site.
