“De la terre à l’assiette”, an adobe restaurant

This project aims to offer a versatile space where the people of the town can gather to eat: whether it be a casual weekday lunch or a town event. The dining area stretches in the shape of an upward spiral, along which visitors can either sit at a table, or lounge on the steps. This spiral extends out to create a terraced roof, which can serve both as an extension of the dining space and as a stage for shows and events. The opaque earthen volume is sliced by a steel grid, thus offering views onto the archeological site and the platform. he building is constructed with adobe. The excavated earth from the archeological site is reused in the structure. In addition to bringing warmth, the use of this material emphasizes the close relationship between the building, its users and its location
