Loučná - Háj : Limestone works Museum "Vápenka"

The Limestone-works is situated in forestry scenery between the communities of Háj near Loučná pod Klínovcem and Kovářská. It accounts for the evidence of mining and processing calcareous rock for the purpose of lime production within the Czech part of the Ore Mountains. In the modern times, Two polygonal shaft furnaces and remains of additional buildings have been preserved.The design intent was to restore the ruins of the furnace and make that forestscape into a vibrant spot for visitors. Steel panels are used as the primary material for the new design and the restoration was done in the orignal materials. The idea of using Steel was for to create a sharp material contrast between the exisitng furnaces and the new addition. Also one advantage of steel is the abilty to make long spans
