Apartment Building Na Zatlance

The subject of the master thesis was to design a housing complex on a site of a city block under the Prague’s hill Mrázovka. The proposal focuses on a larger urban scale as well as on the detail of an apartment. The emphasis was put on the explanation of the proposal in a wider context and also on the standard and comfort of living. The atmosphere of the Smíchov quarter is nowadays still influenced by its industrial history, but we also perceive the magnificence of its residential areas. These ambiences are two strong aspects of the quarter’s special character. The expression of the house is based on the conjuction of persisting roughness of the quarter and nobility of the surrounding buildings.
