URBAN LIVING ROOM - yard conversion

After the closure of the Kasárny Karlín, Prague lost an important center of urban life. My task and goal was to bring the Kasárny back to life. By making new entrances to the Kasárny complex in Křižíkova Street and Prvního pluk, new routes will be created through the area, which will bring movement to the place and at the same time guarantee that the complex will remain open always and for everyone. In the courtyard, I am inserting a wooden column structure reinforced with beams, steel rods and booths made of light-permeable polycarbonate sheets. Together, these create pavilions with individual functions of an urban living room - a volleyball court, a children's playground, a gallery, a summer stage, a study room, a marketplace, a community garden, a café or a relaxation area.
