Conrad J. Godly Gallery
Annotation
The gallery is dedicated to the Swiss artist Conrad Jon Godly, who is famous for his oil paintings with the theme of landscapes, especially mountains. It is situated in the valley of the Swiss Alps, where he grew up. I tried to work with the motifs found in Godly's paintings when designing the gallery. The main concept is an asymmetrical gable roof, evoking a mountain ridge. The gallery is designed in a structural plan. In the underground part, there is the first exhibition space, that receives daylight through a ceiling skylight. The main exhibition space is on the ground floor. There is a glass wall on the north side, which provides the visitor with an unlimited view of the mountain landscape. On the first floor there is an outdoor terrace and a cafe with seating, lit by three skylights.
