"WATER phenomenon"

ZS 2024

Assignment

We are not concerned with the strict (formalistic) fulfillment of the assignment by designing or redesigning an already existing product ……. For students who decide to spend this semester in the Karel studio, we expect a wider intellectual reach, when it is possible to formally (conceptually) connect the concept of "water" on a broader philosophical level with an output that can be just a metaphor, when you are not limited by focus, form or material and technological balance. We will focus on choosing the target interaction of your concept with a specific user group and a specific issue or space within which your project will communicate. We will allow students freer access in the design process and, after consultation, we will also support any artistic/free forms of the given concept. We will support inter-faculty and interdisciplinary cooperation…. "POSSIBLE DIRECTIONS OF INTERACTION" (Water retention in the city and landscape, responsible management, water deficit, water transport, filtration, water as matter and part of an artifact, site specific and communication with a specific space, therapeutic context, transparency and movement, opposition, time, metaphor……) "USE CASE" (site specific, artefact, design-help / medical or therapeutic aid, product, experimental concept, graphic or multimedia design, glass....). The semester will be supplemented by short workshops, led by lecturers, doctoral students and specialists on the given topic, which will have a direct link to the semester assignment. We will support the continuity of projects implemented with partners CTU – FBMI and FEL(HCI) and VŠCHT... The output of the semester will be a summary report in the prescribed format and a model or functional prototype. The scope of the semester assignment will be adapted to the degree studied (BC/MAG).
