Dresden - Green Way East
ZS 2024
Assignment
The city of Dresden has long-term plans to develop open space connections throughout the city as part of the urban green infrastructure. Along the railroad line to Prague, there is an opportunity to design a connection from the city center to the southeastern suburbs on previously unused or inadequately used areas. This involves the development of footpaths and cycle paths as well as the strengthening of biotope connections and biodiversity.
The project will examine the potential of the space, which on the one hand has a connecting function, but on the other hand can also form differentiated, independent open spaces. Existing plans are to be critically evaluated and taken into account in the concept. Based on this, an independent strategy is to be developed that focuses on the open space functions and can serve as a basis for the further urban planning of the area. The project is being worked on at a scale of 1:5000 - 1:1000 and is being supervised by the planning department of the City of Dresden.

Dresden – Hecht Park 2030
ZS 2024
Assignment
The Hecht Park is a historic green space in the north of the city of Dresden. Although it has a rich stock of trees, it has considerable functional deficiencies. Above all, it lacks facilities for differentiated use, such as play and sports facilities. The exposed topographical location on the slope of the Elbe valley makes the park interesting, and fragments of the historic grounds can still be found.
For some years now, attractive residential locations have been developing in the surrounding area, meaning that Hecht Park is becoming more important as an open space close to housing areas. There are also plans to develop the park as a link in an overarching open space system, which will be designed as part of the Federal Garden Show 2033.
The aim of the project is to improve the overall quality of the park in terms of both function and design. It is important to take climate change into account, which will require adjustments to the structure and vegetation. The project is largely being carried out at a scale of 1:1000 - 1:500 and is being supervised by the City of Dresden's Parks Department.
Malé náměstí in Liberec - a living room that does not exist
ZS 2024
Assignment
A parking lot in the center of Liberec with the dominant of Baroque Church of the Finding of the True Cross and a view of the undulating landscape between the houses forming its semi-enclosed frame. It is connected to the nearby Sokolovské square by U Křížového kostela street, with one entire side formed by a gap, and Větrná alley lined with a group of historic half-timbered houses (Valdštejnské domky). In the immediate vicinity there is a church garden with a chapel of the Holy Sepulcher and a Way of the cross. In front of the church there is a formally arranged parterre with the potential for further development. The trio of today's not-so-communicating areas with a unique character can in the future offer pleasant places to stay on a smaller scale, not unlike an open-air apartment. While the small square can be used for more lively activities, the calm church garden invites quiet contemplation and the park for sitting in a green room under the crowns of old trees.
The topic will be worked on with the support of the city of Liberec, which plans to reconstruct the square in future. In addition to finding a suitable approach to the development of diverse spaces in a historical environment, the aim of the assignment is also a non-violent solution to adaptation to climate change.
